The illustration process is personalized and tailored to every project. Here are the steps that get us from concept to illustration.

01 | Review

Reviewing + Estimating

Every estimate begins with a review process of the project, including reference imagery, drawings, models, and site photos, and a discussion about what you and your client would like the renderings to communicate. Once I have a sense of what you're looking for and what stories your space will tell, I put together an estimate and contract. Each project-based estimate includes the following:

  1. Project objectives

  2. Scope of work

  3. Timeline with touchpoints

  4. Terms

  5. Professional service fee

02 | Sketch

Modeling + View Selection

I will then create a wireframe or 3D white model of the space and generate a few view options. We'll select final camera angles together. I'm always happy to do this via a video call so I can share my screen and we can tweak the views live. If the renderings will be fairly loose and stylized, we may use placeholder FF&E during this step. For photoreal renderings, all FF&E are modeled from scratch or purchased from reputable sources.

03 | Color

Color Draft

After views are selected, I'll provide low resolution color drafts of each rendering. This allows us to review and revise color, lighting, and materials before committing to high resolution rendering and detailing.

04 | Revise

Feedback

Feedback + Revisions

This is the best time in the process to add smaller details, such as accessories, signage, entourage, and items that help tell the story of the space. We'll also apply any additional edits based on feedback from the last round.

05 | Deliver

Final Artwork

All final images will include edits based on feedback from the last round. Artwork is delivered as high resolution (1920 x 1080 px or higher) JPEGs via Dropbox or your preferred file sharing service.
